Multimodal perioperative management programme on postoperative discomfort among clients undergoing abdominal surgery at a selected hospital in Mangaluru

Introduction and Aim: Apart from pain, numerous causes contribute to discomfort during the postoperative period. Hence, early nursing care should focus on reducing this discomfort. The present study aimed find effect of a management programme (MPMP) among patients undergoing abdominal surgery. Materials Methods: This quasi-experimental was conducted in selected tertiary hospital included 183 adult who underwent laparotomy. MPMP includes preoperative education, ambulation, deep breathing exercises, incentive spirometry. participants were randomized into two interventional one control group. Intervention Group I performed exercises ambulation after while II practiced spirometry with education. group received routine care. primary outcome variable is (measured days 1,3, 5). Results: showed significant difference factors like pain day1(p=0.007) 3 5 (p<0.001). Non-pain symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, movement restriction due IV drips, feeling cold higher significance for Groups 5. Similarly, dry mouth, distension, constipation (p<0.05) between groups at 5% level. Conclusion: that discomforts could be minimized by practice program
